TrailQuest syncs with Apple Health (iOS) or Google Fit / Health Connect (Android) and reads your daily step count in the background. You don't need to keep the app open — just walk, and your progress updates automatically.

Make sure TrailQuest has permission to access Health Connect or Google Fit. Go to Settings → Apps → TrailQuest → Permissions and ensure Physical Activity is allowed. Then open the app and pull down to refresh.

Step tracking works offline — steps are stored locally and synced the next time you have a connection. Map tiles and lore content are cached after the first load.

Yes. Walking the Camino Français trail, earning badges, building your streak with Streak Shield, tracking your HealthSpan Score, and competing on the leaderboard are all completely free. You earn Trail Coins by walking — and spend them on boosts, Streak Shield refills, or new trail unlocks when you want to move faster. There are no ads and no locked content.

HealthSpan Score is a single 0–100 number that measures the quality of your walking habits — not just how much you walk, but how consistently and at what terrain. It combines your 7-day step average, active days over the past 14 days, and weekly elevation gain so you can see exactly which dimension to improve next.

Trail Coins are TrailQuest's in-app currency. You earn them automatically by reaching milestones, completing streaks and hitting weekly goals. You can spend them on trail boosts that multiply your progress, Streak Shield refills, or unlocking new trails early. Trail Coin bundles are also available in the shop if you want to move faster.

The Streak Shield protects your streak once per 7-day period if you miss a day. It activates automatically and recharges every 7 days.

In the app: Settings → Delete Account. Or use our account deletion page. All data is permanently erased within 30 days.
